THE EMIGRANT’S WALK

One Last Look Home

Walk in the footsteps of those who left

WHAT WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU?

If you knew you might never come home.

During the Great Hunger, thousands left the communities around Carntogher, walking away from the people and places they knew in search of a new life across the Atlantic.

The Emigrant’s Walk invites you to follow in their footsteps — through the landscape they left behind and the stories, memories and emotions of those who went.

ONE LAST LOOK HOME

For many who left, this landscape was their last view of home.

At the Emigrant’s Cairn, pause and look back across the land — just as generations of emigrants did before beginning journeys that would take them far from home.
