Walk in the footsteps of an Emigrant leaving Famine stricken Ireland… local famine expert Cathy O'Neill will guide you up Carntogher Mountain (2.5 hours mountain walk), where the famine-struck emigrants once walked their final footsteps on Irish soil. Place your own stone on the "Carn" and feel what the emigrants felt as they departed their beloved homeland. This experience tells a very poignant and emotional story of the famine and emigration in South Derry. Lead by a local guide deeply involved in the local community with a real passion for the local stories and legends of the Carntogher mountain.
